Personal Statement
I have spent most of my adult life assisting and supporting my brothers and sisters serving in the Public Safety professions.

What is the best thing about being on the San Mateo Co. CISM Team?
When needed, our TEAM can make a positive difference in the lives of fellow police officers, firefighters, public safety dispatchers and paramedic staffs.

Why is Peer support important for me?
Throughout my public service career, I was faced with emergencies and critical incidents that created a psychological wastebasket for me. Through peer support, I realized there was hope and a positive means to adjust and handle the issues. Knowing the success that peer support made in my life it was only logical to turn it around and serve others. Pass it forward.

Why should peer support be a priority at a department?
The use of “peer support” is a tool that has been proven successful throughout the public safety professions. By utilizing the proper concepts of peer support, departments can retain more safety members and not loose them to professional burnout, or issues like Post Traumatic Stress. Peer support is the investment in the lives of men and women within the public safety workplace.
